This is the way my friend Sally's dining room began its transformation. Oh, she had it very nicely decorated before this picture was snapped, but how this is where the story begins. She had a fabulous old door from a family home that she wanted to feature it in a new design she had configured in her head, so she called her carpenter and the process started...
Can you tell where the door will fit into this design?
There's the door, center stage and back lit! What's cool about her planning is when you open the door, there are shelves behind the solid portion that house computer gear! Smart! Her dining room table now serves the biggest portion of the year as a desk but can still be used for family dinners too!
I thought you might enjoy seeing how she accessorized those gorgeous bookcases.
Here's the other side with a great close-up of the sconce.
Love the recessed panel detail too!
No need for lots of words today. This pictures speak volumes and I soooo love a great before and after.
Thanks for looking in today. I have another before and after to show you next week! Come again, same time, same place.

DeleteWhat a fabulous idea! Your friend did a terrific job on the room. It is a total transformation. I also like the idea of having hidden shelving behind the door. Thanks for sharing! By the way, I found your blog on Time Travel Thursday and am now following your blog. I am looking forward to reading more. Hope you get a chance to visit Still Woods Farmhouse!

My friend gets all the credit for designing her room! I thank you for stopping by and deciding to follow me. Hope you enjoy this week's post too--it's another before and after!
DeleteI really enjoyed seeing how you incorporated bookcases into this room. I just added bookcases on either side of a fireplace in my foyer and it made such a huge difference in the feel of the room. Great way to use the door. I had hoped to use a set of French doors in my remodel but it just wasn't working. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThis is a friend's house and she designed the room herself! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteSuch a great idea...love the built ins and all the fun places to accessorize!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. The accessories are nicely placed, I agree.
DeleteLOVE all the storage and that door idea is just genius!
