The Entry

As I continue with House Tour Tuesdays, I thought I'd show the entry today...

To see how to recreate the wall art, click here and here

And if you look up when you enter the house, this is the view...

The wooden pieces on the stairs are from Lowe's and applied to the wall.

And if you look up a little further, you've reached the tiptop!

Coming back down, here's a closer view of the Bombay chest in the entry...

I decorated the chest like we were going to have cake and coffee...

I made this cake a long, long time ago....had to dust it off to put it out this year!  It is three styrofoam disks glued together and covered with an old artificial ficus tree's leaves that had fallen off.  Looks like I added a couple of artificial geranium leaves before adding rose buds.  Not sure what the little balls are.  I had seen a cake like this at an upscale home accessories store and it was $150!  The styrofoam was the most expensive part of this project and I probably don't have $20 in it.

As always, thanks for reading.

  7. Robin, I happened to find this from a linkk on Shabby Creek Cottage and enjoyed seeing it again. Just wanted you to know that I can comment from this posting of yours, but the one you left today March 1, 2012 has no place for me to comment? I know you asked Janet about this. Thought you should know that not always able to comment. Thanks for your blog. I enjoy it much, each time!

  17. Robin, I simply love the leaf covered cake! LOL I'd have oodles and oodles of old leaves to create something like this, since I retired my 20 year old ficus to the garage. It got to be too much trouble to dust all the time- we have gas forced heat. And as expensive as it was, it just needed to go away! Thanks for the great inspiration and more thanks for signing up to follow. :-) I'm having major issues with GFC so I'll be putting you on my Linky Followers for now until Blogger gets their act together and solves our problem. I simply cannot update anything new blog that I follow. ~ Sue
