Teacups & Firearms

Confused by that title?  Let me try to explain...

Let me try to set this conversation up a bit, bear with me.  A few days ago, my grown son wanted to bring a gun into my house for storage and I said an unquestionable NO!   Yesterday I left my teacup on the sofa and my daughter gave me a hard time about it.  Imagine that!  I was then told how much trouble they would be in for the same teacup offense, when my son replied, mocking me, of course, "When you have your own house you can leave your teacups and firearms anywhere you  please!"   We all rolled with laughter.

That conversation led to today's post about my teacup collection.  It is small.  I started collecting about 10 years ago.  I only collect green and white floral cups and saucers, preferably with dogwood blossoms--helps keep the collection small!   Here are just a few.

The wedding cake topper is from my parent's wedding cake!

I love it when any teacup is painted inside!

They sit in this cabinet that was my mother's.

In case you like to read about teas and the foods associated with them, I love these two older books that are available used, I thought I'd share them with you too.  Whatever you do, drink some good tea today and don't forget to put up that cup!

  1. You have a lovely collection of teacups, Robin. I, too, like it when the cups have a design inside. That way, you get to see how pretty the cup is WHILE you're drinking from it. ;)

Thanks for linking to the party. Hope you'll join me each week. As a matter of fact, come by next week, to see yourself featured.

By the way, I'm your newest follower.

  2. I love teacups too. But I also love guns and have two in the house that I actually shoot at our local PASA Park shooting range. It's great fun and personally I think everyone should target shoot at least once. It's addicting...then go have tea.

  3. What lovely teacups! You are so smart to collect with a certain criteria. It is easy to get carried away otherwise. Laughing about "teacups and firearms"! How lucky you are to have that wedding topper!

  4. You have a lovely collection of teacups! I have a few that I love but don't collect them. They look perfect in your Mom's cabinet. You are so lucky to have your parent's wedding topper! Loved your "firearms and teacups" story. Thanks for visiting.

  7. Your son quoted what EVERY mother in history has probably uttered at one time or another! I love it! Your beautiful collection would be most welcome in my home as I am from Missouri and our official tree is the dogwood!
