Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day. We had family over for a mid-afternoon lunch, sat on the deck and look at our gardens. I know, sounds like a yawn of a good time, but that is how we enjoy the summer holidays.
A couple of weeks ago, I heard summer calling and rolled out the summer tub of decorations. Here's a couple of the results of a long afternoon of cleaning and rearranging. No comments about how slow I am, please!
First up is a tabletop display...
That cute little glass float is from Pottery Barn--they came is a set of six! Love them.
Those are antique porcelain orbs that were used for water purification--at least that's the story from the antique's dealer. Don't worry, I would have bought them anyway, just in case you're thinking," yeah right...sure those are antique water balls"
This is my coffee table display this year...
Just a note about coral, I never buy the real deal...it isn't good for the oceans to harvest real coral, PLEASE don't buy it when there are so many great reproductions. Yes, that is my preachy voice, I admit it!
The turtle is new and bought in the middle of winter at Hobby Lobby when he was half off. I just wanted a turtle so much after seeing sea turtles at each beach I visit. The last one was in South Carolina and he (assuming) was huge and had died, but I loved him anyway. I just wanted to go pat him into eternity...strange? Yeah, for sure, but I love sea turtles.
The shells surrounding the turtle are a special gift from a special friend. They are snail shells and not from the sea, but so sea-like! I love that my friend thought of me when she saw the snail shells! I am easily flattered, really!
Thanks for reading (I'm assuming you didn't just look at the pictures). Till next time...

Hi Robin,
ReplyDeleteI share your love of seashells and sea turtles.
I have shells all over my house and I too believe that the fake coral is just as pretty.
Your vingettes are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteHi Robin, found you through Share your Cup and this all looks great! We just got back from a week at the beach but it was a Lakeside beach, not an oceanside beach, and now Im longing to see the seashore and some seashells! Thanks for sharing, it all looks super cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI am all about decorating with a beach theme. I love all your decor!
ReplyDeleteI love your beach themed room. I agree about the coral thing. I am just curious, what was that coral decor made of?

The corals I have are all poly resin reproductions. Pinterest has some ideas for making your own reproductions and I have them listed on my "Crafty" board on there. Good luck and thanks for supporting healthy oceans!
DeleteHi Robin, all of your wonderful beach decor has got me wanting to dig my feet into some sand. It is all so fresh and fun! I love the vignette you created on your table. Hey by the way, I would have bought the balls too. Love the white color! Thanks so much for sharing with Share Your Cup. I am now following you.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Your vignettes are beautiful, Robin! I especially like the one with the sea turtle. And the lovely shells from your daughter DO work nicely in the display. And...yes, I DO read the posts. ;)

Lovely, lovely! I linked over here from your other post because I've been decorating with my seashells and beachy items too. I have some coral, but it's really old and been in the family forever, also small dead pieces picked up on the beach. We would never kill anything for a display in our home. I love your seahorse and the turtle. Have you snorkeled at Akumal Bay, Mexico and seen the seaturtles there just grazing on the seagrass? Breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteI love everything beachy and you have put together so many pretty things. I love that big seahorse! Is that a book by Beth Moore...it looks like one that I have.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh! I can't believe you have those antique water balls. Alison st The Polohouse has them, too. I've been looking for some ever since she had hers in a post. Hers actually came from a water treatment plant not far from where I live...small world.
