Yes, I'm singing O Holy Week to the tune of O Holy Night.
If you read my last post, I promised a special post this week and I hope you will agree. I loved editing these pictures and am giddy to show them to you. But first, can you name this cathedral? I'll give you a hint, it is in the US, and I proud as can be that it is.
WARNING: Lots of pictures. Enjoy!
Are you gasping at the beauty of this space?
It literally took my breath away when I walked in--
it wasn't a planned visit, almost accidental.
When we walked in, there was one other person visiting the cathedral.
She soon began to sing acappella.
Can you even imagine the glorious sound of a single voice singing in this space?
It was amazing.
The beauty just goes on and on in this space.
I love, love, love religious icons.
Every window was beautiful stained glass!
Notice the details on the end of the pews.
A small exit with window detail and it leads to the next photo.
Love the door and the stone detailing around it.
Details, details, details
This was in one of the transepts of the church.
Beyond the wrought iron is a small chapel with a surprise lining
the left side of the space--it houses several sarcophagi.
Sarcophagi
The view as I turned to walk out of this magnificent space.
Word are useless...just soak in the details...think of the hands that made
it...be thankful for the eyes to see it!
Another view of the doors.
OUTSIDE DETAILS
Did you guess the cathedral?
It is the Duke University Cathedral.
It was built by the Methodists but is interdenominational.
I pray each of you have a blessed Easter and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this blog. Peace to you.
