Haul out the holly

WINDOW SHOPPING

"City sidewalks, busy sidewalks,
Dressed in holiday style
In the air, there's a feeling of Christmas."


  I must have taken 50 pictures of my tree in various lighting conditions in the last week and I haven't like any of them, so I did what I normally do when I'm frustrated, I went window shopping.  Come along, I'll show you what I saw.

Of course, that little rabbit drew me into the store and look at what I found...I think I was supposed to be looking at the clothes, but they lost me to these wonderful decorations.

I walked down those city sidewalks and spotted this little gem of a window display...

this is a color photo, not a black and white!

(Okay, I did try on a few things here, but didn't purchase anything!

The display was almost effective.)

Still going strong down the sidewalk and around the corner to this...

Yes, I went inside to get this shot (and look around just a little bit too!).

I gathered my strength and went on and saw this beauty...

Now, I'm a traditional girl with Christmas colors, but I really liked this--for someone else.  With that being said, you can understand a heart palpitation at the sight of this tree...

I am still wondering why I can get such great pictures of every tree but my own, but the frustration might have been worth it--I got out and enjoyed someone else's hard work and came home with a song in my heart for the season!

Historic Home Christmas Tour

Last weekend, a small, historic neighborhood has it's first Christmas Tour and one of the three homes was pretty amazing.  It was built in 1909 and the first owners lived in the house until 1966; it was then bought by the current owners and the care of the home is extraordinary.  It seems both owners have loved the home and have kept everything that is original to the house.  The evening we toured, I was rushed to take pictures and they are not the best, but I hope they convey the spirit of the home properly.  It was a great home tour and I hope it is an annual event.

If you are still with this post, I promise this is the worst picture, but I wanted to show the entrance to the house.  The porch was a wrap-around porch and heavily decorated, as was the house.  There were 17, yes 17 decorated trees in this home.  I'll show you just a few, but take a deep breath because the next tree literally took my breath and everyone else's in the room when we first saw it.  It was the most stunning tree I have every seen anywhere!

 

This tree was so beautiful, a picture could never do it justice--

especially not with my photography skills.

There were ornaments inside the tree, the garlands were gorgeous and then about every foot, in any direction, there were candle lights on the tips of the branches that fickered.  Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my chin just describing it!  I could have looked at this tree for weeks!  Can you even begin to see how magnificent it is?  I really hope you can--I want to share it so badly with you!

The final tree of this post.  Whew!

Kinda unsure where this one was--I was so dizzy after 17 trees that I sorta lost my sense of direction!  But, boy, oh boy was I entertained out of my decorating mind!  The poor fellow in the picture has no idea he's been featured on my blog!  He might not even know what a blog is.  But beware of bloggers, we take a photos of just about anything--just ask my family.  Sometimes I even get in trouble for it, but hey, that's just the kind of risk I take to bring you these posts!
